Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of job stress and health promotion behaviors with quality of life in female riot police officers.

Methods: A cross-sectional design was used, with convenience sample of 182 female riot police officers from 5 Metropolitan Police Agencies in South Korea. All participants completed self-administered survey questionnaire that asked their job stress, health promotion behavior, and quality of life in May, 2018. Data analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS/WIN 23.0 and STATA 13.0 program.

Results: The level of job stress among participants was moderate, with scores of 45.25 out of 100, on average. The average of the health promotion behaviors score was 2.62 out of 4, and that of the quality of life score was 56.59 out of 100. Job stress (r=-0.380, p<0.001) and health promotion behaviors (r=0.559, p<0.001) were correlated with quality of life. The statistically significant variables associated with quality of life were job stress (¥â=-.212), health promotion behaviors (¥â=.417), day off guarantee (¥â=-.039), and perceived health condition(.157); those variables explained 37.1% of the variance in quality of life.

Conclusions: Factors associated with the quality of life of female riot police officers were job stress, health promoting behaviors, day off guarantee, and perceived health condition. Therefore, interventions related to physical, psychological, social, and environmental factors are necessary to improve the quality of life of female riot police officers.
